PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF PUS CELLS IN URINE

The pathophysiology of pyuria is based on the cause of the disease. In the case of urinary tract infections, the bacterial infection spreads to the urethra, bladder then finally urethritis, cystitis manifested. The inflammatory changes of the urinary tract may also be caused by chemical irritants and mechanical irritants. The presence of urinary calculi also causes pus cells in urine. Cloudiness of urine is the sign of pus cells in urine.

In Mootra krichra, the vitiated Pitta Dosha along with Vata (mainly Apana Vayu) on reaching Vasti (bladder) afflicts the Mootravaha Srothas due to which the patient feels difficulty in micturition, pyuria and hematuria. The above-mentioned symptomatology has a close resemblance to urinary tract infections. Urinary calculi (asmari) are one of the causes of pus cells in urine. Doshas associated with the predominance of kapha leads to asmari.

  • Heat application on the lower abdomen by a towel dipped with hot water to relieve pain associated with calculi and cystitis.

DIET AND BEHAVIOUR FOR PUS CELLS IN URINE

  • Avoid food items that produce dosha imbalance like cold and dry food, hard to digest. Because dosha imbalance aggravates the symptoms.
  • Drinking water boiled with gokshura.

YOGA FOR PUS CELLS IN URINE

  • Nadi Shuddi Pranayam – calms the mind and gets relief from the discomfort associated with urinary problems  

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
