CUTANEOUS T – CELL LYMPHOMA AND AYURVEDA

  • In Ayurveda the term ‘’arbuda” is used to describe malignancy. According to Sushrut the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) when aggravated may develop malignant lesions; especially aggravated Kapha and Vata Doshas. This affects the tissue, which might result in developing a malignant lesion. Rakta Arbuda occurs when aggravated Doshas disturbs the normal functioning of rakta dhathu, comparable to the accumulation of toxins (ama) in the blood.
  • Ayurvedic medicine provides a preventive, curative, and supportive management for cutaneous T – cell lymphoma.
  • The symptoms are managed based on kushta chikilsa. According to Ayurveda, twakrogas are known by the general term Kushta. Ekakushta and kitibha are the types of Kshudra Kushta that have similar clinical features with cutaneous T -cell lymphoma. General medicines used for the treatment of skin diseases (kushta) are effective in getting symptomatic relief.
