Vastyamayantaka ghrutham is an Ayurvedic medicine for treating urinary tract disorders. It also helps to treat calculi, diabetes, swelling and urinatory tract infection.
Benefits of Vastyamayantaka ghrutham
Vasthyamayanthakam Ghrutham is used in acute pain & distension of lower abdomen, dysuria, mild fever with chills; all associated with urinary tract infection. As it clears the urinary channels, it is beneficial in some cases of renal disorders.
It is used very efficiently in urinary and renal calculi. It clears blood and pus discharge through urine.
It is used in the treatment of prostratomegaly. By controlling the hypertrophy and swelling, the path of urine is cleared. It is found useful in some tumours and cysts in the urinary and seminal passages.
It is used in bed wetting and loss of bladder control in small children and elderly. It gives strength to the nerves and muscles of urinary system.
It is used in painful conditions of pelvic area like hernia, hydrocele, vaginismus etc.

Details of the manufacturing
As already discussed, Vastyamayantakaghrutha has 51 herbal ingredients, silajatu, cow’s milk, rock salt and cow’s ghee.
Herbs for swarasa should be taken fresh, washed well, crushed and squeezed through a cloth/sieve to get clean filtered swarasa.
All herbal ingredients for decoction and kalka should be washed well and dried up in shade.

Silajatu (Half part of total kalka)
Take the ghrutha in an open vessel and make it boil. Add the prescribed Kashaya, mik, swarasa of the prescribed herbs into it and again boil. Mix well and make sure to keep the fire low. Make it boil and cook in a low and steady fire. Add the kalka dravya (herbal paste) slowly, mixing well. Make it boil and then cook keeping the open vessel with low fire. Reduce the quantity into the quantity of ghrutha. Make sure to mix it in between with a ladle. Also, the fire should be kept low to make sure that all the active ingredients in the herbs needed are absorbed well into the ghee. Continue cooking and stir in between. Check the Paaka as per Snehapakavidhi. Once the desired Paaka is attained, filter the ghruta. Mix well and keep it in air tight glass bottles after cooling completely. Ghrutha can be used for a longer period of time without any preservatives.

Dosage and Usage of Vasthyamayanthakam Ghrutham
Dosage:
Depends upon the digestive power of the person. Usually it is given 15g-20g twice daily in a person with good appetite and digestion as samanasneha.
Usage:
When used as Samanasneha, Ghrutham is advised to take in empty stomach, once the ingested food is digested well and when the person has appetite.
Usage of ghrutham with prescribed prakshepadravyas according to the condition of disease and the patient gives the best results mostly.
Exercises and Yoga.
As Vasthyamayanthakam Ghrutham targets mainly the apaanavayu and electrolyte balance in the body, regular exercises are advised. Also, specific Yogacharya including naadisuddhi pranayama, bhujangaasana, is recommended.
Regular exercise helps improve the bioavailability of medicine and food ingested and leads to positive health.
Yoga can maintain harmony within the body and with the surrounding system.

No known side effects reported.
Contraindication
People with derangement in fat metabolism; may it be Hyperlipidaemia or obesity or hypercholesteremia or atherosclerosis or hypertension. Most of these, associated with weak digestion, too. In such people, the ghee preparation may worsen the condition rather than curing it.
Diabetic patients should not take it as it contains sugarcane.
