Ayurvedic Treatment for Anal Abscess focuses on internal medications and external surgical measures following Ayurvedic procedures. A painful condition in which there is a collection of pus that develops near the anus is called an anal abscess. The main cause for the development of abscesses is the infection of small anal glands. Among them, the most common is the perianal abscess. This often appears as a painful boil-like swelling near the anus.

Causes
There can have many different causes for the development of an anal abscess. These include:
- An anal fissure is a tear in the anal canal and later on that becomes infected
- Blocked anal glands
- Sexually transmitted infections
Colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, pelvic inflammatory diseases are some of the risk factors which trigger the development of an anal abscess.
Pathophysiology
Anal abscesses are caused by plugging of the anal ducts. Anal ducts are those which drain the anal glands in the anal wall and this helps the easy passage of fecal matter through mucus secretion. Its blockage causes fluid stasis which finally leads to infection.
Diagnosis
The diagnosis of an anal abscess is by doing a physical examination of the anal region. Check for pain, swelling, and redness in the anal region. Additional tests may be carried out to screen sexually transmitted diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, or rectal cancer.
Treatments
Surgery is the standard treatment for anal abscesses. The superficial abscess can be drained using local anesthesia. For deeper abscess may need hospitalization and surgery. Antibiotics are used to prevent infection. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs are also used if needed.
Prognosis
Surgical treatment is usually successful in all types of anal abscesses.
Complications
An anal fistula is a usually seen complication associated with an anal abscess.
Disease and Ayurveda
This can be correlated to a vidradhi (abscess) formed in Guda
Nidana- Causes
The abscess in guda region is formed due to etiological factors like,
- Hot, spicy, dry food
- Vega dharana (forceful retention of natural urge)
- Improper exercise, long sitting posture
- Excessive coitus
- External trauma can also be a cause.
Samprapthi Maturation
Pitta pradhana vitiation of tridosha (vata, pitta and kapha) occurs which leads to vitiation of tissues of skin, blood, and muscles. The abscess then gets formed in guda pradesa (ano-rectal region). These abscesses are Asukari in nature which means get into pakavasta (inflammatory state) quickly.
Lakshana Signs and Symptoms
- Severe pain in peri anal region (guda pradesa)
- Itching
- Fever with chills
- If not treated will lead to Bhagandara.
Divisions
Vidradhi can be classified based on the site of occurrence. It can be,
- Bahya Vidradhi (the external part of the body)
- Antar Vidradhi (internal parts of the body)
Guda vidradhi is included in Antar vidradhi.
Prognosis
Since the treatment is surgical management it is Krichrasadhya (difficult to cure)
