PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF SPERMATIC CYST 

Pathophysiology of spermatic cyst is based on the cause of the disease. Generally, inflammation occurs in the epididymis. The inflammatory changes may lead to blockage of the epididymal duct. The sac or cyst contains clear or clouded fluid.

  • Analgesics
  • Anti-inflammatory medicines
  • Antibiotics in case of infections
  • Surgical removal of cyst or sac

PROGNOSIS OF SPERMATIC CYST 

  • Prognosis is based on the cause of the spermatic cyst and the condition of the patient. Generally, it is easy to treat but complications may occur.
  • Spermatic cyst due to bacterial infection is easily cured by antibiotic therapy.

  • In Ayurveda, the spermatic cyst is considered as a ‘vridhi roga’ with the predominance of pitta and kapha in case of inflammation. It is managed based on the symptoms.

In a spermatic cyst, the vitiated Pitta Dosha along with kapha afflicts the Sukravahi Srothas and produce inflammation and other symptoms. Vata dosha is involved in the formation of a sac or cyst.

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, and the body relaxed. The patient has to close one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
